160, 6'0, first cycle recommendations ?

Horrible advice. Way too much for a first timer. High risk of sides.
^^^^^^ exactly. who recommends a test/deca/dbol for a first time user? that's aweful advice. obviously the norm is test only or maybe an oral only imo. but i know the OP pretty well, don't be fooled by the 6'0 160lbs ...he's been a boxer and runner his whole life so he carries no bodyfat and with that muc activity it's hard to gain weight..he's been lifting his whole life.

you are too skinny.. if you could post a pic it would be helpful. i doubt you have any muscle on your frame... you need to start eating and go natty for a while. at your height you should be atleast 180 pounds at a mere minimum BEFORE you even should think about AAS. and even 180 is probably too low. I am just 5 6 and I'm 180 and you got a half foot on me.

agreed with stevesmi and george, you can gain a lot more weight without doing any steroids. The supps george listed would do you a lot of good. People who are recommending this guy do a test/deca/dbol first time cycle when he's only 160 at 6 foot are fucking stupid

I was a competitive powerlifter, then a competitive runner, and now a non-competitive bodybuilder.

each body type is totally different.

your friend sounds like a great athlete, but that doesn't mean he is ready for AAS at this point. he needs to focus fully on lifting and tone down the heavy running to be successful at this sport. cannot do both. and boxing is very similar to being a competitive powerlifter because both have to make weight and have to be very strong for their size to make it. bodybuilding is about growing muscle while shedding fat, its totally different.

so if he is really serious about bodybuilding.. he needs to spend 4X a week lifting weights. and doing very light cardio, and EATING a lot of food. then in 6 months or a year he will be ready for AAS. but not now, he wont like his results unless he builds a base first

its no different then running.. do you really want to have a normal person and grab them off the street and expect them to be running half marathons in a month? no they have to work their way up.. yeah they can do a half marathon but the body is gonna really become overstressed in a short time. not good, probably tons of injuries.

That's good information to have and it's great that limits is athletic and very low body fat (at 6'0" and 160lbs that's a given). But that doesn't change the fact that he needs to eat more (or run less) if he wants to gain mass.

Just because a person works out and has a healthy diet, that alone does not guarantee a lot of muscle. The physics don't change just because you're healthy; you have to take in enough calories to maintain a given body mass, whatever that desired mass may be.

Just about every poster so far is trying to tell OP that he has the potential to gain a shit-load of muscle naturally, simply by eating more.

I graduated high-school at 5'11" 145lb so I've been there myself. A steroid cycle could put about 10 lbs on me simply from increased nitrogen retention. But in about a month after the cycle was over, all the muscle was gone because my diet didn't support it.

Also, running and adding muscle definitely work against one another. That's something else I know from experience. Even if you eat enough calories to make up for those lost, running triggers changes in your body that really slow down the rate at which you can add muscle. Distance running does anyway.

So, limits should increase his calorie intake by 1,500 calories per day and make sure he is eating at least 200g of protein every day.

Switch from distance running to wind-sprints. And, lift heavy 3-4 days/week.

Then, in 90 days when he weighs 185+ lbs, he should come back for AAS advice.

I agree with most everything you wrote but this is ridiculous... if you can only gain about 1.5 lbs muscle per month naturally he will need to gain 20 lbs of fat in 3 months to weigh 185... I doubt that's what he is looking for. Realistically he needs to get his diet and training right for the next 2 years.

My math may have been optimistic, but where are you getting this 1.5lb of muscle per month figure?

Is that for a mature bodybuilder who is already close to his natural limit? Does it really apply to a young man at 6'0", 160lb?

if you are only 160 at six foot then you need to re-examine your training and diet. im betting your diet is screwed up.
