IMO he got what he deserved. At 14 you are smart enough to know what is right and what is wrong so he should be locked up. Why should he get a second chance when the little girl he killed does not ?

well agree in part bro, but there's one thing that bugs me: it wasnt a first-degree murder. And I'm sure any lawyers here will agree on this point. I think it was more involuntary homicide....following the Canadian criminal Code.

I read somewhere that the UK has overtaken the US in voilent crime.

As I said earlier in the post, we had two kids here about 12 kill a 4 year old. They abducted him from a shop in Liverpool, took him to a railway track and threw rocks at tim until he was dead.

At 18 they are out. The government was so concerned that vigilanties would find them that they took out an injunction banning newspapers from publishing any pictures or details.

Now they have been moved to a different country, Australia or even the US under new identities. Who know, they may be living on your street.

Yes, I would. Believe me. Any kid of mine kills another child by beating her to death, hitting her repeatedly until her shattered corpse disgusts the coroner, I will offer to lock the cell behind him.
