12 Plate Hack Squats, Good or no ?

I have never done hacks before but I liked them. I did 5x5 on regular squats then a 5 x5 on hacks. Last set was 12 plates...Is that an ok squat....

Sounds good I guess it was my first time and it was after 5 heavy squat sets....We'll see where it at in a month or two...

and the particular machine

i was doing 8 plates in one machine, then went to another (my current gym, 2 years later) and i found it as difficult to do 4 plates, and i was a LOT stronger by then

i currently do 7 plates on that machine, and the next best i have seen anyone else do (roider or not) is 5 plates. (its one of my pet exercises)

all just depends. if you feel that it was a good lift, then it probably was, end of story. congrats :)

Why do people ask this stuff. just look around the gym; if nobody is lifting more weight than you it's pretty good.

Hrm I was just checking....I do 8 per side on leg press....So I was just seing if thet was good or bad...

heavy is RELATIVE...id be more concerned about getting very deep rather than weight..

GD is right hack machines are all different..we have a slightly different one in my gym..but i do mine facing into the machine and use a total of 22 plates below parallel..i dont really use the machine anymore because i cant get my feet wide enough and the fact that i can get about 8 solid reps with the most weight the machine will hold..machines give tremendous leverage..i DO NOT squat anywhere near 900 lbs yet i can with the hack machine..the only thing i do like about the one at my gym it allows you to position the weight properly which helps get in the right position for regular squats..

If you like em and theyre working then keep doing them!!

I've just gotten back into leg training in july so I'm only about 70% of my old strength. The first month in the gym I was doing 2 plates per side; now I'm up to 6 plates per side for 10 rockbottom reps after squats. I should be able to add a plate every other month for a while.

wow man. i do 3 plates a side on my 45' sled (same style ronnie uses in unbelievable).
i do high reps on Hacks though, usually 20 reps. (i use 7-9 a side on LP.)

For me, depth, foot postion, and angle, dictate weight.
I'd say 12 plates is impressive :)

I don't like my gym's hack squat sled; it has an adjustable platform but something doesn't feel right on it.

You for one man...

Sorry dude...didnt mean to criticize at all ...great lift for a 1st timer

Some folks think that leg presses should be done with 20 reps , some folks differ , my own view is that hacks work best wih around 10. We crystal ?
