When you finish your work out how long do you wait till you eat..
That is besides the protein shake.

Some would say right away ,others would say one hour or more!
Could each side bring arguments to suport their choice?

I don't know too many lifters who eat a full meal immediately after hitting the weights....but I suppose that all hinges on how you define "meal".

What I do is have the standard post-workout shake immediately (combining protein and dextrose)....and then I wait about an hour and resume eating normally.

I always have a malto + whey shake immediately after my weight-training workout. I usually drink the 1st half when I get to my locker, and the 2nd half after I get back from the shower (10 min later). If anything, I will wait to weight-train after eating, not vice-versa.

I think the only time it is advantageous to wait to eat is after a purely fat-burning workout, such as cardio. I have done this before --- cardio in the morning before eating then wait 45 minutes or so to eat.

you want the post workout protein shake to be consumed ASAP, but no longer than 30-45 minutes. then about 1-1.5 hours max. after the shake eat a meal of real food.

Why would someone wait one hour before eating?
Is there anything wrong if you would eat right away?

when taking a post workout shake of protein with simple sugars (maltodextrose, dextrose, glucose and such) the insuline peak will subside after 30 minutes, thus i would be a good idea to take a post workour shake immediatly after training and a "real" meal 30 minutes after this (and incorperating some high gi foods in this meal, along with the usual low gi stuff).
