So basically I come here and I'm a big lurker, but I figure I'd type up a post talking about my progression and what I've learned over the last year.
Apr '05. I had been lifting for about a year, without making any real progress. I'm 6' and I was weighing in at only 165lbs BF ~6-7%. I was basically a twig. My diet was whatever I wanted to eat, I stuck to a 1 body part a day workout routine, focusing on what "Men's Health" - "Gain 1" to biceps in 3 weeks" bullshit advice.
So I came here and read up about training, diet, etc and decided to make the change. I started a 5x5 routine, a half-assed one, but its results got me thinking. I ran a couple of those back to back, seeing great gains. By the end of August '05 is was up to 195lbs and BF ~10%
Unfortunately, come September I had to move and get a job, knocked me out of lifting until December. Weight dropped to 190 BF ~12-13% Anyways got back into it Jan 1st, another 5x5. Proud to say I'm up to 223lbs BF ~15-16% All my core lifts are up 40-50% from this time last year and I feel great.
Hopefully someone will read this and see that you don't need gear or all kinds of supps to bulk up, just a strong diet and good lifting program. I've only used whey and creatine.
Anyways, sorry for the wordy post, but I just wanted to say thanks to everyone, K to everyone!
