MR. OLYMPIA TO AIR ON FOX SPORTS MARCH 23
The Big O is finally coming back to the small screen. The 2001 Mr. Olympia is set to air on regional outlets of cable’s Fox Sports network on Saturday, March 23, at 3 PM (be sure to check local listings for details). Taped and produced by Physical TV, the production features Shawn Ray calling the action — a fascinating choice, not just because of the verbose Ray’s candor and controversy, but the fact that he was in the contest itself, and finished fourth in the process.
Most Fox Sports stations will air the 2001 Fitness Olympia on Saturday, April 20, at 3 PM. While the Ms. Olympia was also taped, the physique contest will only air on foreign cable outlets sometime in late April or early May. There may be Stateside cable or Internet access of the Ms. Olympia presented at a future date, so we’ll keep you female bodybuilding fans informed.
Physical TV also taped the Arnold Schwarzenegger Classic, Fitness International and Ms. International contests last month, and those productions will also air on Fox Sports's domestic and/or foreign outlets. Check back for more details in later postings.
Pro bodybuilding is finally getting the television coverage it deserves, and we salute Physical TV for getting the job done. The company, based in St. Louis, will also produce Webcasts and other vehicles to bring exciting contest action to fans. We also salute Fox Sports for having the foresight to publicize these great, though under-appreciated, athletes. Stay tuned for all the details in future postings and in the print magazine.
