    swimming 4 muscle

I don't know what kind of results you're looking for, but swimming will certainly help develop your upper body. If you're looking to build muscle, maybe you want to focus less on swimming for cardio benefits and more on using accessories to make the swimming harder... things like hand and feet...

    any triathletes here?

What distance are you going for? When is your race? What are your goals? What's your current level of fitness? In terms of books, people always sight Triathletes Training Bible by Joe Friel as the best book out there, but it's pretty technical and imo geared more towards pro level athletes...

    The Girl Talk introductions thread.

Hiya, I rarely post but I thought I'd introduce myself none the less... I'm 26 years old and a total endurance sport junkie. This is my second season racing (triathlons) competitively and I've placed in all my races this season... though I broke my ankle early on and thus my training and...

    Patellar tendonitis = can't squat / press /etc

I've got a few knee braces I wear. I ran a marathon wearing one which seemed to help - at least during the race it did. Ironically, the knees hurt more now. And I am aware that taking time off is the best remedy, it's just really HARD to sit still. I recently discovered ibuprofin (sp?) gel...

    Patellar tendonitis = can't squat / press /etc

d'oh. I caused some serious confusion. My abbreviation of p.t. was for Patellar Tendonitis, not Physical Therapist. :| Supreme - I have not had such things checked, however, I do see a chiropractor who is always adjusting my pelvis so I'd assume that my "alignment" is off. IT Band is...

    Best endurance diet?

so wise and so true, Daisy .... of course, rules don't apply to me, however ;) I KID! okay, based on everyone's advice, I'm upping my protein with shakes (I realized I was eating cheese at almost every meal for protein), and I'm trying to eat every 2 hours, and I'm adding more carb rich sport...

    Heart Rate Monitor

HRM are integral for endurance training! You can find good ones for cheap on ebay ($40 or so). Polar is good, Timex Ironman is very good.

    Lean System 7

About how long does it take to see results with something like this? I've used Xenadrine in the past but I felt so wired I gave up before I saw any changes. I'm interested in adding a fat burner to my program, but most of them seem like all hype and no substance...

    Patellar tendonitis = can't squat / press /etc

I have patellar tendonitis in BOTH knees (marathon runner & triathlete). Today I was doing a leg workout which included squats and leg presses, but the pain in both knees was such that I had to cut the workout short. The thing is, strong quads help alleviate the problem of patellar tendonitis...

    Best endurance diet?

eh, I hope I'm not over training. I'm following a program from the book "triathlete's training bible" which is, as the title suggests, gospel among endurance athletes. I'm trying to work in more protein. Problem is, I pretty much eat a vegetarian diet and I don't want to over do cheese and...

leejunfan - do you like the Beastie Boys? If so, see if you can find the Ganjah Kru remix of "Negotiation Limerick File."

Left arm (tricep specific) TOTALLY weak - why?

So. I've been working with a trainer for the first time ever (huzzah) and she's having me hit the tri excercises pretty hard. The thing is, I can usually get through one set of cable or standing free weight type tri work, then I get to the bench for skull crushers or extentions, and the left...
