That one irks me as well. Another one is these peoples' inability to differentiate between "lose" and "loose." lose (the one with the soft 's' sound): "I will never lose at anything." loose (harsh 's' sound): "Predictably, I am using the term, "loose vagina" to illustrate an example of "loose."
