Squats, Deadlift, Bent Row, Military press – Form Check

The safety bars aren't there to bounce the weight back up for you when you hit parallel. Lower them by a step or two for sure.

Another Fun Sunday, March 15, 2009

Oh Jesus, when I saw you fail at over 600lbs in the first video I didn't know what was going to happen. You're massively strong man, great job.

    BB/DB bench difference in weight

Just wondering what everyone's difference is between their dumbbell bench and their barbell bench. I feel like my BB bench should be higher compared to what I bench with DBs. Maybe I'm wrong? I suppose the easiest way is to talk about one rep max DB bench: 85 x 1 BB bench: 185 x 1

Optimal heart rate for fat loss

Well if I want to maximize my time:fat loss I suppose I'll do shorter time at higher intensity? I hope I'm understanding you correctly. I don't want to dedicate an hour to low intensity cardio every workout

Optimal heart rate for fat loss

I've read previously that for cardio a lower heart rate tends to be better for fat loss than a high heart rate. Is there any truth to this? Today I kept my HR to 130-135 and by the end of my session I was not tired at all. It felt boring and easy. Typically I keep my HR at 160-165. If it helps...

    Show me the way!

An awesome reply, you hit the nail directly on the head there. I'm glad to see my cardio isn't having a "negative" effect. I'm going to start looking into a good program to follow. I can definitely start up the weights again, I like to feel stronger anyways. I love having knowledgeable people...

    Show me the way!

Thanks for the advice. I'd love to be able to go to the gym seven times per week. Realistically, I will probably got 5-6 times per week. My cardio is always pretty intense. By the end I'm sweating a ton and ready to fall down. According to the heartrate monitor attached to the machine, I'm...

    Show me the way!

Thanks for the advice. I didn't make myself clear about the cardio and calories. I am burning 500 calories per day through cardio. The amount of calories I take in depends upon the day. I am all over the place, but I feel like I am taking in generally the same amount of calories per day. So you...

    Show me the way!

Hi everyone. I come to you gentlemen seeking advice. I respect everybody's opinion here, as many have results that speak for themselves. A little background, if I may. The first time I ever set foot in a gym was October 11th, 2004. I stood at 5'11, the same as I do now. I weighed in at about...

Max-OT Training -- What do you think?

The m-ot website is here: http://www.ast-ss.com/max-ot/login.asp I followed it for a few weeks. I found that there weren't enough sets for some bodyparts, while for others training to failure became exhausting (mostly legs). There are a lot of exercises that I'd prefer to substitute, like...

    Gym Etiquette

I agree man. There's only so far you can go with this working in stuff. If I'm using cables or a machine, I'll gladly let a guy work in. I've let a guy work in with me doing preachers with the EZBar. After every set he had to take off and add weight, it's just such a pain. When it comes to...

Accidents in the gym. You ever fallen backwards doing squats?

Never fallen down when squatting, but had a more embarrassing (dangerous) accident though. It was a long time ago, when i was still new to the gym. I was benching 85 or 95 pounds. I finished my last rep, and slammed the weight back towards the hooks, feeling like hot shit. The bar ended up going...

    Rough's bulking progress

I will workout about 3-4 times per week. There are many exercises I cannot do such as: standing calf raises, shrugs, leg press, squats, deadlifts, hypers, bb rows, front squats, weighted pullups, weighted dips, SOHP, SLDL and GM's. I can still bench fine, do most upper back exercises, all...
