    It's hard to diagnose a problem with just 'pain' in an area...... but it could be planter F. or a heel spur.... Go see a podiatrist...they are experts in the foot But be prepared..planter F. can be a biatch as u are on your feet most of the time giving the planter fascia little rest...

    Broadly speaking, 'shin splints' occur when the tibialis anterior muscle is over-exerted in trying to prevent the foot from rolling in too far (excessive pronation), causing inflammation of the muscle. In your case it seems it could be a chronic problem, or just that you have started running...
