    I have not shadowboxed with weights yet. I will definitely give it a try though. I do understand that the power comes from the hips and legs. then I guess strengthening those areas with squats, deadlifts and cleans would probably be beneficial.

    I don't think this is true. I believe the concept of the 5x5 routine is the weight progression. I think as long as you are upping the weights, and using the major lifts then the program will work.

    Thanks all. It is very difficult to determine where to start in terms of a cut. I dont want to lose any of my strength gains, but I must lose the fat I have. I read one of the sticky posts in which someone lost fat on an HST. Maybe I'll give that a go.

    The only issue with the cardio is that it may sap your energy levels for your lifts. If 80% of max is high and it probably will cut into your gains. You may have to lower the intensity of the cardio to see gains in your lifts.
