heavy weight less reps or light weight

Well, having done both, I would say that heavy weight less reps worked way better for me. I do squats, front squats, deadlifts and straight-leg deadlifts, all in about the five rep range. (Not all on the same day.) I am sure this by itself got me out of the size 4s into the size 2s, I've...

    How Can This Be?

Micro - Knowing your bf% is helpful, but if you don't have the same reliable person doing it all the time it can mess with your head :) Try keeping track of your measurements as well - you can do this yourself, well, for some places. So then, if eg your waist gets smaller and your weight stays...

    kindness hidden from our sight

I think PBR's just teasing you, mrshardbody - triskaidekaphobia is fear of the number thirteen.

    Hello 2all new member sorta..

Hi! For me keeping a journal really helps with motivation - write down what exercises you did, what weight, how many reps, etc - then in a month or so you can look back and see how much progress you've made.

    gym etiquette ?

Nah - I train at a college gym. Have yet to see anyone using the platform, maybe it's meant for dls.

    Lucidblue....

I started feeling burned out on 5x5 after a while too. I switched to doing an upper body-lower body split for a while - you do upper twice a week, one day heavy, one day light, same for legs. This helped me recover a bit without feeling like I was going to get all weak.

    gym etiquette ?

If you work out in a gym with bumper plates & the wood platform for oly lifting - is it considered OK to use that for dls?

    serious help

Jessie/Rella - Not sure I'm reading the routine right - are you doing seven exercises back to back, and only then resting for a couple minutes? So it's a circuit training kind of thing? You might want to try taking a rest in between exercises so you can lift heavier, lifting heavy usually...

q about a man not eating enough?

We get qs from guys asking about girls - I'm asking the opposite - I know this is the women's board but I got no joy on diet. My guy friend who got me started on lifting is in need of diet advice. He has previously lived on sugar alone basically, now he has decided to cut & is eating 1200...

    Maintaining leg size without squats.

Sissy squats are this - http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/Quadriceps/WTSissySquat.html exrx is great for info if you don't know it. How's your injury doing anya? I feel your pain, my left shoulder is fried.

    calorie ranges for cutting

I have a question about a guy friend of mine. He's always had a totally crap diet - sugar, sugar, and chips. Now a few days ago he decided he wanted to lose some fat, and has adopted the theory of eating 1200 calories a day. Now obviously this number is way too low - he weight 175 at about...

    Maintaining leg size without squats.

Would sissy squats (world's dumbest exercise name) work for you? There's no real hip bend, so I _think_ there's no adductor strain.

    Why train?

Originally ... vanity. I wanted to be less squishy and didn't want to diet or do cardio :) Now I like being strong and I'm a basket case if I don't lift for more than two days.
