More Box Squat Questions Guys :)

Box squats are usually used to hit the "parallel" position or lower. "Parallel" is technically where the hip & top of leg tuck together, is even with the top of the knee, when squatting down. To be safe, many people just assume "parallell" is when the entire top of the thigh is level or below...

    BB Rows (Madcow)

Are there any cool videos of real rows being performed? Those photos in the link on the sticky look very interesting; it's amazing how simple that is/looks, yet I've never done rows just that way before... Wonderful thread. Thanks!

    Neglected medial delt!

I would think Turkish Get-Ups would seriously help address any concerns about "neglected medial delts"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    squat vs. assisted type squat

Are you referring to a Smith Machine? These are okay, I guess, but maybe not as good as "real-deal" squats. If you had access to big rubber bands, or even chains, you could do reverse-bands squats (with bands hanging down from something STABLE above you, such as the top of the rack) or...

    Strongmen of all different types...

That is an amazing video. Many of the overhead presses stand out in my mind: Guys doing 450 seated in a rack, Jesse Marunde doing presses of 320 with his wife & child right behind him (a little cavalier with his family, eh?). Fantastic, inspiring video!

    Amazing Deadlifter

I've heard (and also this seems like commonsense) that Europeans not only love the deadlift, but also, they tend to do just a lot more upper-back type work, in general, than us fat & slovenly Yanks. Well, not only Europeans, but most working-class, blue-collar people tend to have strong upper...

Drug Free No Suits Powerlifting Federation

I live in a pretty remote area so I don't see the same sorts of gym rats most of you other guys probably see. Where I live, I'm almost the only powerlifter I know. I don't compete, I just do it to stay in shape. I have no incentive to lift with gear nor to lie about any numbers I make...

Drug Free No Suits Powerlifting Federation

I don't see a problem with a belt (though I don't wear one either -- want to build the core as byproduct of no belt). But this whole argument gets a bit tired -- Ever hear of "slippery slope logic?" If one side of an argument isn't 100% lock-tight absolute, then someone argues that it...

    Bench PR

Wow, that's awesome Chambewy. I like & can't fathom the popped blood vessels & bruised eyes part. That's the definition of "INTENSE"! Congratulations.

    Please Criticise my Sqaut/Deadlift/Bench

Many other people have said & I agree that doing paused box squats are pretty dang good for Deadlift. Especially if you use a really low, paused, sit-back box squat with as much weight as you can handle, that depth & that pause really transfer over to the Deadlift. When you set up the DL...

    Box squating

power up, You said you only have one day a week to squat. If you only squat one day a week, you probably shouldn't do DE/speed/light squats. WSB calls for doing one day of DE/speed work (light weight), then about 3 days later, doing one day of ME work (max weight). For squats, you'd do (for...

    Box squating

I never really figured out how box squats are supposed to be used for DE squats, and it seems to me that most of the WSB guys & literature say Box Squats are more for ME days. The gym I use has aerobic steps, these plastic little 2-3" tall boxes that you put a wide step on top of a pair at each...

    Amazing Deadlifter

Yes, I saw that video already. Amazing. That would have been the all-time world record for any bodyweight just a few months ago, and the guy is like a lean 275!!! Incredible.

    DeadLIFT Experts

My 2 cents -- I found one day that one shoulder was really going to crap. Eventually I completely stopped lifting at all for many months. When I came back, once I gradually eased back on up in weights & paid more attention to shoulder flexibility, I began doing this for Deadlifts, essentially...

    WSB for non-equipment lifters

Thank you for all your replies everybody. This is very informative. I like the Bradford press idea, I will try that! I think I'm on the right track, it looks like the ideas here are fairly similar to what I was thinking about. Thanks, everyone.
