    Jabbing the quads may help, try it and see. I think you need to invert your routine. Extensions last, they are a polishing and ripping, striating move, and hold the contraction/extension for a slow count. Watch the vascularity improve and see if you can walk, 4 set minimum, 5-10 reps...

    The muscle in question is the vastus medialis. Are you bow legged, ie. ride the outsides of your shoes, if so you probably can run like a demon dog and have a highly developed vastus lateralis, (outside quad). This would be a structural problem, as in my case. Wide squats with toes outward...
