    Landis back in yellow

Floyd Landis finished 3rd in today's time trial stage of the Tour de France to take back the yellow jersey. A remarkable comeback considering he looked to be well out of the race after Wednesday's stage.

    Best movies ever

The Shawshank Redemption (maybe the best movie of the 90s) has got to be near the top of the list. And Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark is a film I can watch anytime - I need to be in the right mood to watch some other 'great' films

Which part of your body would you cut off?

Aussie rules football player had a finger amputated so he could play better! http://smh.com.au/articles/2005/09/13/1126377309477.html

Hi gang.. calling anyone with a knowledge of music theory and notation

OK. Not sure if this is what you wanted but.... As it says a major scale is made up of tone-tone-semitone-tone-tone-tone-semitone. So to work out which sharps/ flats you need you pick your starting note and then work your way up the scale choosing each note to fit the major scale pattern. The...

    Shingles?!?! Who has had it?

Yeah. It was more of a 'just in case'... she hasn't had chickenpox and... she is, or might soon be, pregnant and... I didn't feel the need to cross the road to avoid people or anything :)

    Shingles?!?! Who has had it?

Had shingles on my neck/shoulder last Christmas http://img320.imageshack.us/my.php?image=shingles2va.jpg :( Lasted about 2 weeks. Doc said I should steer clear of young women (damn!) - chickenpox and pregnancy don't mix.

    Interesting warning to UK Bros

reminds me of something I read a few years ago: "the US has freedom in theory, but not in practice, the UK has freedom in practice, but not in theory".

Need help with core training on a body ball

And now a website www.coreperformance.com. Use one of the access codes from http://www.gojessi.com/story.cfm?story_id=9668&publicationID=58&pageID=4245 to get 3 weeks free access (assuming they still work). The videos of the exercises on the site are a big help.

    HCG question

Have a look at https://139.162.255.163/xfforum/index.php?posts/4488962/ What I said there applies to 'natural' hcg (extracted from the urine of pregnant women - yes really). It may be possible to detect recombinant hcg separately in which case the detection level would be lower than 1IU/L.

I don' think so. But I had 2 TVs on next to each other - one with the tour on and the other with the London Live8. So it didn't have my full attention all of the time :xeye:

    le tour a commencé

Lance Armstrong came second in today's first stage of the Tour de France - an individual time trial. And he passed Ulrich on the course putting him over 1 minute down. I think Armstrong has stamped his presence on the race pretty emphatically.

The popularity of Track & Field

I usually watch athletics if it's on the TV. You only have to look at events like the olympics to see how popular it is. And only a month to go until the World Championships returns to Helsinki. Hyvää juhannusta!! (better late than never :))
