Hold on I'm getting an article, you would dig. Entity believers spend their entire efforts defending self esteem, wont' try anything new, and in an effort to validate self esteem, compare themselves to peeps who they percieve as 'less successful' than them.
Increment believers, for some reason, focus on making better efforts to better their own performance.
Peeps don't understand the 'why', however alot of it has to do with the idea that we praise kids so much on what they excell at early, in order to boost self esteem. As a result they don't try anything new, self contract from challenges quicker, and stagnate.
Studies shown, that undergrads with growth/increment mindset vs nongrowth/entity mindset, when they had dysphoria/mild depression. Keep in mind, dysphoria is when activities that reward with intrinsic sensation of happyness, dont' pay off, so you feel numb and weighed down with a heavy, dull internal feeling. The growth mindset, were more active, had higher energy levels, even during dysphoria, which soon passed. The entity believers, stayed in bed, and the dysphoria led to them to withdraw from things that needed to be done.
Just PM'd you the original article, that is the best overall summary of how this 'lay theory' conducts one's life.
