Those are some interesting studies about the creatine/caffeine combo. I've read that some of the original studies testing creatine used tea, and it had caffeine but still people had good results.
Maybe it depends on what type of creatine you take. And of course everyone is different so some...
Have you ruled out a possible muscle pull or strain in your neck, at the base of the skull? I've done that before, and anything that I did gave me a killer pain. Just had to let it rest up.
But whatever it is, hope you get over it soon.
