Liver problems

not exactly from steroids, rather from protein...my question is Is it possible to get problems to ur liver because u intake too much protein??? i eat(+shakes) about 200-250 grams of protein,so is it possible to get liver problems? i also drink like 2 gallons of water...

The protein is a blend of 20 amino acids, 10 your body makes and 10 you need to intake. you need varying levels of each and one way to look at it is a bar chart with 20 bars at different heights, this is your consumption (per day). If you consume through diet intake more of any acid than your need for anabolism, it'll just be used up as energy through gluconeogenesis. There's a theory out there not sure if its true, but if you consume too much protein you get good at burning it as fuel because increasingly used gluconeogenesis protein to energy pathway. Studies have shown you can only absorb at most 30g per sitting. Ample qty after a workout and then a constant supply of amino acids appears to be the best approach

no bro, protein will not harm your liver. But there are arguments that state too much protein is not good for your kidneys.? Thing about that though is i read an article in a magazine trying to say whether or not it was actually harmful to your live or not and they came out stating it wasn't so it's kinda one of those things that people believe and some do not. Personally I think to much isn't a good idea for long periods of time such as years but eating a lot and in-taking a lot of protein to bulk and or build shouldn't harm you at all.

I wouldn't be so sure about the body only being able to absorb 30g of protein. Take Ronnie Coleman for example. He sits in around 300-330lbs most of the year. Its a fact that you need 1.5g protein per pound of bodyweight to maintain and build lean muscle. That means Big Ron would need AT LEAST 450g of protein a day, and possibly a bit more to grow. He would prob have between 5-8 meals a day, depending on the time of year and if there is a competition coming up. If he only has 30g protein per meal for 8 meals that means he only ate 240g protein for the entire day. He would shrink!! He would have to stay up all night eating just to get close to his minimum target of 450g and prob still not get it! And he needs his sleep in order to repair damaged muscle and grow. So I am quite sure the body can absorb more than 30g protein per sitting! Any thoughts??

nope never heard of ANYONE getting liver or kidney failure from eating protien

this is an interesting thought. if you posted this in a new thread in say, the diet and bodybuilding forum, you'd probably get alot of different opinions.
im definitely interested in seeing what people think.

I would say that Ronnie eats 450 mgs of protein a day -- EASY.

Excess protein is not a problem if adaquate water is consumed, though in men over 40, it can be a strain. Another reason why GEAR is so great -- if it ever gets back in stock!

If someone consume lot of protein he will have kidney problems because of the uric acids. All this depends on the body.. Sorry for my poor English :P

I dont see it causing any liver problems at all.
I do however like to use a solid liver protectant
at most all times.

u will get different options on this..most people will say no and i agree with them..
