This is your observation, so how could it be wrong???
lolololollolo
So Jim Baker is an atheist? Or did he just get tempted and fall to that temptation? He has since repented. Did he convert back to christianity from atheism?
Sorry, but I find you a poor representative for either side of a religious debate.
Your views on christmas gift giving? Is that what you made up or heard from someone else? Do you just use that as your reason or the reason of the christians that believe xmas is all about jesus? xmas has nothing to do with Jesus Christ. Well...I suppose it does now, but it didn't until men changed everything to make it appear that way.
Now, speak more Japanese to me...that got me all turned on!!
Oye, I hate to dredge up an old thread, but I had to leave and left unanswered questions from CEO. Jackangel was right. I was not very careful with my words because as I have learned, everything on EF is a joke eventually so it's hard to write seriously and with care when it's going to get scrapped into the conversation waste basket in a couple hours anyway. But, I'm digging this back up for CEO.
Yeah, I wrote with a lot of "hate" and anger, but don't take it personal per "The Four Agreements". I wrote in reaction to a reactionary OP video.
If it doesn't represent you, then it doesn't. If you are merely being the voice of reason as a MOD or for all reasonable people, then nice work. I am only representing myself and my own views.
I'll stand by these:
1) Yes, overall athiests are meaner than the other 2 categories: theists and agnostics. There will always be exceptions to the rule and we can't take a head count, but I just have a good hunch. I can't publish a book on it. Btw, I will be visiting a Unitarian church for a series and I hope to meet NICE atheists for some interesting conversations. A hate speech guy like in the OP video would NOT be found bothering with unity and lovey dovey oneness with others at a Unitarian church and you know it. Athiests might go to this type of "church", but it's the exception perhaps, and not the rule.
2) I asked for athiest charities, and yes I could have found them myself, but I wanted to know what charities
you athiests give to. If you gave, you'd have a list so I figured you would mention one or two of
your own favorites that
you give to. I didn't doubt there were any. I was trying to give a boost to athiest charities WHILE learning of them. I got a list, but it was not clear if the poster even gave to the charities himself.
3) I wanted musicians
you athiests listened to who made for
you transcendental music. I got no recommendations yet. I
want to be proven wrong on this point and hopefully come across some good music. So far, nada.
4) Yes, I came out of the locks with hate speech at the OP video guy and hate in general for anyone who would applaud him. You are welcome to "hate" religious nuts too. Most of us "hate" extremists of any kind. I'm a hypocrite for hating EXTREMISTS and for thinking
in general that thiests (and agnostics- who are the norm) are generally nicer, warmer, more inspired, and more generous than thiests and agnostics? It could be a false impression based on nothing but my personal experiences, but experience speaks volumes and with volume. I don't see myself as an over generalizer, but I know that's what you think is at the core of my views. So be it. I'm just lacking in a variety of good experiences with "out" athiests. Many people have "bad" experiences with non-athiests too. Duh. But again, religious labels can be misleading where as few people would NOT be athiest and stick on an athiest label. Why do you not adress this point?
Btw, being fringe folks anyway, it seems a matter of course that many gay/bi people would be non-thiests especially of the Judeo-Christian-Muslim kind since these religions generally preach against homosexuality. Just another tangent.
As for religious bozos who do crap than repent- are they athiest/agnostic/thiest? Who knows? Acceptance, control, power, security, and being with the crowd are very powerful forces. Representative bozos of any stance are bozos. CEO says I'm not a good representative for thiests. That's okay. I am only speaking for
myself and my views.
I will have to say through all of this I did learn more about how athiests want to be defined and viewed vs the impression of the OP video guy. There's something good. It's nice that nice chunky balding white guys want to have some good dialogue. There isn't enough of it and again at worst this was a dialogue. I was just so pissed off and not really taking "care" with my words. My bad. Was any of this a big deal anyway? Really? EF can stand for EFfervescent.
