If you don't believe Jesus Christ was/is God...

The Christian Bible IS a secular source....it was made by a committee that picked what to include based on what was popular in the day. Revelation is the most popular book and it's nothing more than a criticism of Rome...Read "Jesus Interrupted" and "Misquoting Jesus"...both written by a respected biblical scholar that came from our evangelical faith.

sigh. I don't want to go down this road again tonight. Maybe tomorrow. I'm amused that you think I have not debated this b4

No, which one should I start with? I'll have it read by next weekend and be ready to refute. I'll start w/ misquoting Jesus?

Misquoting Jesus is a good start...dang wiminz...I should be in bed by now on a school night....It is halloween so I would also recommend you watch Bram Stoker's Dracula...it was on my play list today as one of my favorite all hallows eve movies.

Nope. I'm pretty sure all I need is the bible [1] :worried: I'm almost afraid to investigate it further. I didn't do much w/ it today. All I needed was a little change in perspective. The trinity never interested me before. Like I said before, I never considered it a requirement for salvation [2] so I just accepted what I was taught [3]

1. That's disappointing. :( Not even the writings of early church fathers? Not that there's not enough evidence in the bible itself to refute the idea of the trinity. :)

2. But not believing in the trinity means you don't believe in all of god, so you don't believe in god...so you can't be saved. It is a foundation of the christian faith. Declared a creed and statement of true belief. Although, you're right about the trinity not being a requirement (at least not to God). According to the Ten Commandments (God), believing in 3 gods (trinity) might actually lead you to hell though.

3. Like so many christians for many centuries. Accepting what was taught, and handed down through tradition.

"For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" 1 Timothy 2:3-5

"Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of you, as ye yourselves also know" Acts 2:22

So far your arguments haven't been all that strong. No offense. :)

The re-writing of the bible by men is commonly known and accepted. The myth that it was preserved as god's perfect word and is complete and perfect as it is (ie. as the bishops at Nicea saw fit to compile and modify it in accordance to pagan emperor Constantine's instructions) is perpetuated by the church and believed (as far as I know) only by her followers.
