Stoning should be reserved for the crime of murder only...I have no problem with it in that instance. But for cheating it just seems far too severe.

That's a short story called "The Lottery". I read it in jr high school.
Like digimon said, it was called, "The Lottery." It had Dan Cortez in it. It was around the time he had the long hair. Actually a decent movie as far as plot goes.

there is a difference b/t culture and religion. It isn't even a "fuzzy" line, one can distinguish between the two quite easily and clearly. The thing is that a lot of these countries, their culture and traditions clash with the teachings of Islam. so what to do to have the best of both worlds, creatures of convenience that we are; they add to the religion or take away from it to suit their needs and desires. This is haraam, manipulating Islam in any way is not Islam anymore.
Kinda like a lot of "Christians" here in the US. I see the lifestyle of these "Christians" in our American culture and it makes me lol. No wonder there is so much confusion. No wonder there is been such a rise in atheism, especially with the young generation. there is no credibility when we contradict ourselves all the time.
We look at them and are horrified of "Islam". They look at us and are horrified at "Christianity"
To make things worse, both countries have a very poor understanding of each others' cultures so a lot of the time people resort to comparing what you know with what you don't know. Not the best idea to start comparing cultures for better understanding. It does just the opposite, yet we see all the time, the media encourages it, we see it IRL, even plenty here on EF.
I wonder if you've ever been around a new convert of Islam, or any religion for that matter.

Where you see muslims in control - you do NOT see human rights. Or respect for women/gays/other religions.
That CANNOT be argued. Islam is a backwards bigoted religion where honor killings are condoned. Many people just don't have the balls to say that.

again its comments like these that show you don't know very much about the religion of Islam or what it means to be a Muslim. claiming to be a Muslim(claiming anything) does not make you one. usually when people make claims, they are asked for proof to substantiate their claims. so how does one show "proof" they are Muslim? A Muslim is defined by the lifestyle they live/lead everyday which is guided by the teaching of the quraan. A person even remotely familiar with those teaching would never make a comment like the one you just did.
Islam has nothing to do with politics, countries, or Arabs/or any other race. I can go out in the street in any state and ask random people why they don't like islam and i guarantee they'll give me retarded reason that falls into the above categories.
People's fear, hate, prejudices and the actions stemmed from that has been clumped with some type of religion forever now, thus religion is evil and whatnot outcries.
