Canada is a lock for gold tomorrow in men's hockey!

The fact that I quoted 1952 should alert you that I was aware of that.

To summarize I dared question Canadian hockey superiority of TODAY and both you and QT respond with "yeah but 50 years ago...". I repeat my assertion - Canada is certainly amongst the elite however World dominance is not a word I would use at this point in time. There's parity in men's hockey which is a good thing for everyone involved. I won't be surprised if they pull women's hockey because it's the U.S. vs Canada every time. Here's how I would describe world domination.

U.S. Olympic basketball - Gold medals in 1956, 1960, 1964, 1968, 1976, 1984, 1992, 1996, 2000, 2008. Just about half the time.

I guess you are aware you missed this part as well then.

winning the 1972 Summit Series against the Soviet Union, four of five Canada Cups dating back to 1976, 8 Winter Olympics (the most of any Nation), including the 2002 and 2010 Winter Olympics
(2/3), four consecutive IIHF World Championships and the 2004 World Cup of Hockey.

2/3 of last 3 Olympics and 4 consecutive World Championships trumps half.

As ricco points out I didn't even mention world jrs.

Other countries have caught up. You're absolutely right about that.
Canada remains dominant it's just a fact. They could have put two teams out with the potential to win.

cause it was the same match up except the good guys won? :D

4 of the last 5 trumps 2 of 3. If you could put up two teams with potential to win why not create one team that embarasses everyone? The U.S. beat Canada 5-3 and then you needed OT to beat us 3-2. You won when it mattered the most but c'mon son, that was hardly a domination.

dt, i know you're smarter than that.

because Canada has the depth to put out two (maybe 3) competitive teams doesn't equal one that always embarasses the other. we're talking depth. the majority of NHL players are Canadian (although there are a lot more from other nations than ever before- i see this as a good thing).
Most of the foreigners are still developing with Canadian junior teams.

Did you watch the games, son?

Canada dominated the game they lost. It happens when your team allows a couple of weak goals and the other goalie stops almost everything you fire at him.

A good team with heart, that works together will often trump talent. That's what makes hockey so great.

Sorry to post this 3 and a half days late BUUUUUUUUUT, if you guys notice, Luongo almost cost Canada the game by dropping the puck 3 times....

As opposed to Brodeur who has the best glove in the league....

Guess it doesn't matter now, congrats Canada

Ya everyone makes a mistake in game, Babcock pulled Brodeur and we won a gold medal. That's all that matters.

USA would have won if Brodeur was in net.

I know you love him, and he is great.. but Luongo is a far better goalie than he is today. He should've started every game. Plus LOL at you still complaining about his play AFTER you win the gold.
