It seems to me that making money on the internet is the best way to go if you want to have more free time (i.e. you can earn money while you sleep whereas you can't with anything else really).

Anyone tried it...what have you results been like?

I'e been looking at the ideas here and gonna try some:

The Online Money Test - Can I Make Money Online?

Are you talking mlm type shit?

IMO the best way to make money is to create a site with original content and attract sponsors related to it...

Definitely ain't easy....

I would agree with you 100% that it's the best way to go. Ive been making money online since 1995. Understand that there is work involved. You cant just set up a site and the money starts flowing in.

I read the first page of the link you included and I agree with what the writer said, except that I dont think they did a good job of explaining it.

He said something about picking a hobby that interests you, etc. Instead pick something you are passionate about. For most people that is a hobby. If you pick something you are passionate about, then the "work" that you have to do wont seem like work because it is something you enjoy instead of dread.

Also - I think it will be very difficult to start a site, and then sell advertising on it. There are so many other sites you are competing with that it drives the price down and you also have to be getting a ton of traffic to the site for anyone to be interested in advertising on it.

Instead come up with something that you are passionate about, that you have a specialized knowledge of, and then create a product from that. It will be unique because it is your knowledge and others may not have the same level of knowledge of the subject. So then your product isnt just another red widget. It is YOUR red widget. You can then market yourself as an expert on the subject.

But remember - it also has to be on a subject that others are interested in.

If you dont have a knowledge of a subject, or dont know how to create your own product, then you can always become a reseller of someone elses product. Again, make sure it is something unique.

cheers, that's some useful info.

Do you mind me asking, what area do you make money online in?

I'd like to make money online but not really sure what I could write about in an expert way, which couldn't just be found elsewhere. Any idea how could i get into reselling and find a good product?

Thanks!

Chewy...what do you mean by mlm?

Multi Level Marketing

I didn't read through your link - my other comment sounds like exactly what the link was describing....

I was very heavily involved in online advertising sales from 1999-2002 (my site was adcertified.com), and that was when pretty much anyone could make money buying and selling banner ad space. I was 18 years old, my partner and I were making about $12,000 per month, each! The golden era of logging onto the internet and going to the mercedes dealership an hour later are OVER! When we finally sold the company I walked away with a 2 houses, 3 cars, a motorcycle, a month long vacation in South Africa, traveling throughout Europe, several cruises, and a lot of great memories.

There is still plenty of money to be made on the internet, and there are plenty of people making an ass load of cash. Look at luxury4play.com, and you'll see pretty much an entire site of people that made their fortunes from various internet companies. Those guys all have ferarri's, boats, huge houses, etc. I'm still making a very good living on the internet, but it's much harder work than 8-9 years ago.

With that said, in the great words of Chamillionaire, "The rich ain't gonna show you how to get rich, and the poor act like they're the richest people alive." G'luck

That's interesting. wish i'd started 10 years ago!!

What field are you making money online in now?

theres a lot of different ways to do it.

adsense
affiliate marketing
selling content to sites
selling domains
selling actual items (powerseller)
poker (only if you are disciplined AND have a better than average understanding of math)

and that is only a small segment. it depends on if you want to make a few bucks here and there, or move towards an actual living. either way it will take a lot of hard work.
