my doctor switched me from xanax to paxil which i wont take, so i need a new doctor to go to to get a precription for xanax, anyone here from MA have a doc they can reccomend? alot of them wont prescribe benzos anymore. thanks
switch doctors with your insurance company with out informing your current doc. see the new one and ask for it, they won't question you or even ask for your old records. i did this when i wanted phentermine and my pcp refused to prescribe it. two days later found another doc who would. (i'm also on clonopin).

Why are you taking Xanax? Xanax doesn't treat the problem if you're taking it for anxiety. It only treats the symptoms. You really need to treat the problem.
Your first Dr. probably made the correct decision. Xanax is no longer considered a good long term solution to anxiety and panic attacks. I had panic attacks going back about 18 years. At the time my doctor just kept giving me more and more xanax as the problem would not go away. I was taking 12 mg/day within 6 months of starting use of xanax. I'm now down to 2mg/day. It took a lot of time to taper my dose down. Being on xanax long term sucks. It clouds my thinking ability. I used to be able to do arithmetic in my head. I could do calculations that most people required a calculator. I lost that ability because of the xanax. My memory has suffered as well.
