I don't know much about these things, but with hundreds of cds I figure I need to learn. So is it as simple as either downloading a song(s) from a site such as itunes, or downloading songs from the cds I have and them importing them onto the mp3 player? Is there more to it than that?

I was asked if I want an ipod for christmas and wasn't sure if I did or not.

Thanks.

nope. . .it's real simple. . .the way i understand it, mp3 files are basically the same as files on cd's, there is just information missing (highs and lows that supposedly the human ear can't hear) from an mp3 file that makes it significantly smaller such that you can fit like 120 of them on a regular compact disc. . .

every music software (roxio, windows media player, etc.) on the planet will convert files from a cd to mp3 format so that you can play them on an mp3 player. . .

Thanks for the reply. So I could save my cds onto my computer and assuming I have enough memory on my mp3 player, save them to that and just take that in my car or to the gym? Cool. What will they think of next, the internet on my phone? WOW!

well. . .you'll have to convert them (using windows media player or whatever music/media software you have on your computer) to mp3 format for them to work on your mp3 player. . .but then, yeah. . .you ought to be able to hook your mp3 player to your computer via usb and drag-and-drop files/songs on to it. . .
