not many pools in the hood, and no organized swim teams at all either. Not all blacks live in lower class urban places though, so I'm surprised there aren't atleast a few.

Greater bone and muscle density doesn't lend itself to floating/swimming well.
I'm a whitey - but I can't float at all in the water. Have to breast stroke like crazy to keep from sinking.

they arent allowed in the club yet... like golf, they aint allowed.... tiger isnt black, trust me they performed tests on him before they allowed him to play in the club. they asked him questions like "which 40oz is the best?", his answer "whats a 40oz?". they then asked him who tupac was and his answer was "a two pack of what?". he was so in after that one.....

Because black people - unlike skinny white tweaks from the usa - know that there's NO CAREER in swimming. You might win a gold medal, but then 2 weeks later you're forgotten. Quick: everyone name the last american to win swimming gold besides phelps. Heck, name one american star from teh last olympics. I rest my case.
Basketball, baseball, football, hockey skills can lead to careers. Swimming? hahahaha.

wow, each post i read of yours amazes me each time you would sya the things you do. whatif a person is not built to play a certain "career" sport or does not have the ability to play those sports? i guess you would have them sit on their ass and do nothing. the fact is there is a career in any sport. do you even realize the money Phelps will make off endorsements? just like Bolt will make off running. (why didnt you include running in your list of useless sports?) probably because the majority of runners were black.
the difference between you and i is i see a person for who they are, you see them for what they are.

Phelps will make $40 + million in endorsements (I believe). I bet that had little to do with his desire to be the best swimmer he can be. He has the passion of his sport - and that's the way it should be.
I forget his name, but a Hispanic American wrestler turned down a full college scholarship for a chance to win Olympic Gold. I'm not sure I agree with his decision - but I respect his love of sport. BTW: He won.
I'll never make a dime off of powerlifting. It's not even an Olympic sport. But I'll be the best powerlifter I can be until death. IMO that's the true meaning of SPORT.

Blacks were not allowed to learn how to swim during slavery as it was seen as a means of escape.
Generations of segregation in access to public pools have not helped either.

They dont dream of a career in swimming, because there is no money in it. Phelps is one in a billion..
