I wondered the same thing when I saw his reaction, but I wasn't comfortable saying one way or the other.

I don't know who in your experiences you're using to give me the characteristics of someone who would claim Obama as mine, but it's not me.

Now they are saying that Adam Lenza (age 20) is dead at the school and Ryan Lenza (age 24) is in custody

well this isn't the thread to get into a discussion about the effects of heart rate on firearms accuracy. I shouldn't have brought it up my bad. It's almost like maybe the guy could have killed 40 people if he was in better shape, bad call on my part. We'll revisit the discussion though again in a different/appropriate thread.

And as a parent of girls in grades 2, 4, 6 and 8 I am concerned about this situation and those poor parents. That is the worst thing in the world. All of prayers should go out to all those hurting right now. Horific.

You prove my point. Drugs are plentiful despite illegal. Do you think guns are just going to magically disappear if banned? Look at our failed war on drugs for the model of what happens when something is banned.

I can see it now: Gun cartels, skyrocketing murder rates during illegal gun deals, gangs expanding their turf war to include control of gun sales etc etc

Remember prohibition in america? That worked out really well didnt it lol


Its backasswards, focus on preventing people from going bad, not banning inanimate objects
Doesnt work with drugs or alcohol, wont work with guns

One of my co-workers said that one his old friends contacted him and said his daughter was at the school and is missing. His wife is standing in front of the school the staging area with 16 other families awaiting confirmation.

Now, they are definitely saying the younger brother Adam (age 20) was the shooter. The older brother is in custody in Hoboken, NJ.

In the end, this is the world the NRA envisioned for us. Gun availability for anyone on demand. Had they had their senses intact and said to themselves "maybe not everyone in this country ought to have the right to bear arms", "maybe there should be some stringent tests people have to go through to prove they have the mental faculties about themselves to be armed".....maybe these shootings wouldn't have happened. All these decades gun shows have been letting these weapons out the back door, there's simply too much of em out there to know who has one and who doesn't. If it had been done right from the beginning for sure alot of these incidents would have been cut down on. But like Plank said, this is now why good people have to carry. It is what it is now.
