Genetically Modified Crop on the Loose and Evolving in U.S. Midwest: Scientific American

I liked this response to the article....

From the beginning, one of the principle concerns of environmentalists has been that the genetic alterations will mix with the rest of the biota in unpredictable ways.

It is self evident that this would be a problem even though Corporate Scientists assured the world it would not be so.

Now we see that those corporate scientists were either incompetent or were simply being dishonest.

When in doubt. Side with the environmentalists. It is generally the best policy.

mrplunkey bringing up your vibrams in 3....2......

No way!

Plunkey is all sensitive, eco-sustainable, all-natural and certified organic now. We should go back to our pre-technology ways of farming.

Oh wait. We're at what, six and a half billion people now? Any ideas on how we choose which 4-5 billion people we'll need to starve to death when we go back to the good old ways?

If you actually knew what you were talking about or had any experience with any sort of agricultural we could have a discussion here......but I sense it would go as far as most discussions with you go. By that I mean it would take you about 3 posts to figure out you stepped into a discussion of which you really weren't all that educated and you would be confronted with concepts that if you were to take the time to think about them would alter the way you perceived our current way of life and heavens forbid we know you're not capable of that and the snarky scurrilous comments would be inbound roughly 3 posts in...give or take a few.

So what I"m saying is....tis not worth it. Your mind is long past malleable enough to understand the fallacy of your above statement.

Now see? I agree with you and you still want to argue.

Here's your chance to educate us: How much would agricultural productivity drop if we stopped all GMO crops, fertilizers, pesticides and any other form of non-natural agriculture? Shoot a credible source our way and show us the way forward.

I don't see the big deal. Cows aren't even naturally occurring animals like the rest of the livestock. They were breed into what they are today and I am sure it doesn't help the environment either.
