does an unfit person burn more calories than a fit person?

For example: If Lance Armstrong and I rode bikes for 10 miles would I burn more calories than him? Just wondering because lots of people say running and bicycling don't burn that many calories, but both activities burn me out completely.

Lance would burn less because he's been trained to be more efficient at it (at the same speeds). Once you'd adapt, you'd burn less as well. However, in the real world lance would burn way more cals because he can keep a much more intense pace for longer.
