can steroids kill you?

Getting check ups doesn't prevent anything. You can check out fine and drop dead leaving the doctors office. That too, is a form of rationalizing. I'm not saying it shouldn't be done, but hey, if you're doing 2 grams a week you don't need a doctor to tell you you're pushing it.

And excess bodyweight, even if it's muscle, is not healthy after a while. The human heart was not designed to sustain 270 pounds, no matter how good you look.

I'm of the school that bodybuilding (and gear use) makes you look more like a god. Hell, Reeves was 190, Zane was 180, Arnold was 210. Does anyone think these guys weren't big enough? Do any women think they weren't muscular enough? So many guys using huge dosages look like they barely work out. I could never understand the point of taking health risking levels to put more formless size on an already smooth body. I just don't get it.

Most of you are thinking of heart disease and forgetting about stroke, which is frequently far, far, far more detrimental.

Steroids increase red blood cells, which may increase the viscosity of the blood. Many people have abnormalities of their blood vessels which has areas where blood may slow or stagnate.

With the added viscosity, clots form, and WHAM, stroke out, lose the ability to move on the left side of your body, speech...

This isn't age related either. It can happen at any age and in healthy people.

Things to watch out for: the face falling or drooping, the inability to raise both arms, loss of speech or difficulty in speech.

If you or anyone has one of these symptoms, phone an ambulence, the faster time to treatment will save more of the brain.

This is good info and probably is the cause of high BP while on. My question is this: If steroids increase viscosity of blood, then why is it so often said that AAS thin the blood? I have a surgery planned and was told to hold off on taking AAS becuase of the risk of increased bleeding???

Deca thins the blood. Almost all others thicken it.

Well said Nelson. Thats why I have never subscribed to the so-called "bulking" (up) cycle mentality. Unless you are an extremely hard gainer, bulking is just an excuse to eat like a pig and get fat. Who wants to look fat and bloated? Hell, I can do that without even touching the gear.

if this thread gives you a bad fealing or is something that you dont want to think about then you should reconsider your training and steroid use.

lets talk about the risks we face as bb'ers and pl'ers asociated with hard training, our unhealthy diets, and our steroid use.

all three of the above have been known to cause serous health risks from high bp and diabetes to liver failure, heart atack and strokes. sudden death. some of us seem to convince ourselves that the risks arent there. either because we are to stupid to understand or we dont want to accept the truth because we are to obsessed to quit.

it happens more than we hear about. we only hear of it when its someone famous or someone local. think back through your life about how many times you have heard of young men dying in connection with steroids.

i havent even mentioned the possibility of being accideltally poisoned and killed by a ug lab. think about it. who are you trusting with your life? i wonder how many household chemicals will kill you if you injected a small amount. its not like oral where you have defence mechanisms.

do you have a life partner? are they in agreement with the chances you are taking?

im not trying to rain on any ones parade. i just want people to be clear on what is really going on.

please disguss.

tell me im a dick if you want. (as long as your ready for a g-bomb:))
lmfao at your cycle and this post ... but yes steroids are not the healthiest choice.... if you stay away form orals, cycle responsibly you can minimize alot fo the sides,,, i prefer steroids over binge drinking though which most people will do and think there helthier then a juicer

Many, many more people are killed from alcohol poisoning then steroids. If you drink a lot of water it can kill you. I think the underlaying premise is wrong. Anything can kill you!! Eat a lot of salt and it will kill you. Eat to little salt and it will kill you.(As a side note salt is so important that Roman soldiers were paid in salt. That's where we get the saying "Not worth his salt.") I don't want to call you a dick but the way you posted this it reminds me of a child that learns they can drown and then is afraid to go swimming. Looking at the pictures of children you have posted I think either your neighbor has been very busy at your house or you are a grown man. Everything you do has danger associated with it. Take responsibility for what you do and be as smart about it as you can.

And I am a social Darwinist. Stupidity is expensive and should remain so. If someone is so stupid that they kill themselves doing something that most others have done without harm then its a good thing that they don't pass on their genes.

And this is really the underlaying problem of modern society. Anything that might have a danger level associated with it is then controled so fools can't get hurt. The total population is put apon for the minority that are to stupid for words. I always wear a seatbelt when I drive. But I resent the law telling me I have to wear one. This is the reason you posted this. Your whole life the state has looked after you so you don't even think about it. And now you are outside of the states control and it scares you that your safety is in your hands.

Addition:

Joe I just read another thing you wrote on this thread. You said your "body was designed." This is totally wrong and anybody with a highschool education should know that. Your body evolved it wasn't designed. Your body evolved in such a way that we can work it hard, feed it well and it will respond and grow. By being a BBer you are actually just working with what nature has evolved your body to be. And your digestion system has only gotten "rest" after the industrial revolution. When we were running around naked or in skins we ate all the time. Look at the great apes today. They spend the vast majority of thier time eating. That's the way we were. The concept that you have three meals a day was created so you could run a machine in a factory!!
