Your Family is Missing How Long Until You Call The Cops?

curling

This is just a hypothetical hopefully it would never happen to any of us. But lets say your spouse and children went to a movie that started at 7 and now it is 10 o clock you already drove around the movie theater parking lot and the car is not there. How much longer do you wait until you call the cops? 1 hour 2, 3 & so on.

Well, if they went to a 7 o'clock movie and you had already driven around the parking lot of the movie theater looking for their car, they probably left town because Daddy is a psycho.

Well stop being a psycho then.

You must not be like most men....

When my hunbby says he's going to be gone "for a few", this translates into several hours.

If they were gone for over 5 hours I'd call his celly.

And there is no answer. And now it has been 8 hours total. Now what? See what I am saying how many hours until you call the cops?

If he did not answer when I called his celly...THEN I'D PANIC CUZ HE ALWAYS HAS IT ON FOR ME AND FOR HIS JOB! Something would be VERY wrong if I could not contact him.

I'd call the cops right away SINCE he had our daughter with him..(j.k)

YES!

He's the "type" who has to be able to be reached 24/7 due to job related issues!

If he did not answer...HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM!

You planning your alibi or something?

No nothing like that. Just the other day they were running really late almost 2 hours from when they should have been back. And I was really starting to worry(you know you start thinking about all the kidnapping movies you have seen) so I just thought it would be interesting to see how long everybody would wait until they filed a missing persons report on a loved one. See what I am saying?

Uh-huh... j/k

Yeah, it bugs me when they run late and don't call. This happens very rarely in my household though.

You can't (to my understanding) file a missing persons report until 24 hours has elapsed. I'd probably be concerned by hour 4 and worried by hour 5.

Themachine-I think you are correct if the person is over 18 year's of age on the 24 hour status!

The rules change if it's a missing child , as I'm sure you know.

This kind of thing happens to me all the time. 99% of the time I can call one of his coworker's cells and figure out what's going on. They have a habit of going to someone's house after work to put up walls etc or their boss brings them to the bar. If his coworkers didn't know where he was, I'd freak out after a few hours. Then again, it doesn't take much to make me get insanely pissy if it's regarding being late.

I couldn't deal with that... My wife and I know where one another are all the time.

Even if they're with a parent? I hope so...

If the child were missing WITHOUT supervision is what I meant orginally.

But....Now that you mention this scenario...I wonder if they WERE WITHA a parent what the procedure would entail? Interesting thought......
