Really ?? I'm 42 and never had that problem once .. although i'd say the exact same quote to the younger generation i employ , first you tell them what to do then they stand there with this stupid look on there face like your speaking some foreign dialect ... next they pier down at the hands like they are actually going to have to use them for something besides the keyboard or cell phone ... once over the fear of physical labour , they have to ask again what it was you wanted them to do from the start .

We use to take work experiance grade 12 students from 4 local high schools out of the 35 or 40 that have come through the door in the past 6 years there has not been a single one i'd hire to even sweep the floor .....

Instant gradification seems to be the theme ... any task taking more then an hour to complete seems almost unbarable to these kids ...

Fortunalty i'm not talking out my ass and i can back up every work with hundreds of pages of documentation as i am a board member of the local and provincal apprenticeship commities ... we run programs trying to recruit youth to the trades .. they have almost zero intrest in working with there hands , the last trade show we did was the worst one in history . Attendence was almost non-existant and of the ones that did show up they just laughed at the prospect of doing a job that seemed to be beneath them ...

I'd hire a 40 year old over a 20 year old 9 times out of 10 .. least when you tell them to do something they actually do it and remember what it was you told them ten minutes out of your office ....

I do that all the time. I forget what I am doing every time I sit at my desk. My supervisors refer to it as multi-tasking. I call it ADD...same thing
