You ever pay out kick-backs?

In my industry there are major kickbacks going down and I have almost never played that game. (I once gave a guy $900.00 cash)

So now I know some guys who receive gift cards ($2 grand worth) every month from various suppliers and some guys are bringing in a few grand cash.

Wouldnt it be great to have your suppliers paying your mortgage?

Anyway ---you guys ever pay out??? or get paid???

I think I'm gonna have to start handing out gift cards every month.
 
I'm a buyer and I used to get bribed all the time. I never took anything unless it was some wine or choc at xmas time.
My former boss was given a HUGE gift card and took it, showed it to me and then gve it to the immigrants in the shop that has little money for their kids.

Don't hand them out. I frown upon suppliers that try to bribe me
 
its funny how straight up cash will get you in trouble yet I just took some clients on a deep sea fishing tour for a weekend and spent about 25k and that is considered "General Relationship Building." lol

one of the guys im getting quotes off is either going to be paid tens of thousands of dollars (hes already rich) OR i supply him with 2 airfares, one labourer (to do most of the work) and 3 hookers

the world is a fucked up place. if *I* was into hookers, id jsut take the money and get them myself. i dont really understand why hed accept $5000 in prostitutes instead of like 30 grand

oh yah one of my customers gets taken to this place where he gets a hot tub and three hookers for the day. this goes way beyond rub and tug LOL

What do you work for Softchoice or something? I know a chick who worked there and sounds like the kick backs she would get. I know there is an office in Toronto.
 
A property manager I know got free windows and roof for his house.
I know a guy who got a swimming pool and a Doctor who gets a new BMW loaned to him from a law firm.
 
When I stay @ hotels on business trips sometimes I'll return to my room and there will be a chocolate on the pillow. I don't know how they found my secret weakness, or how much trouble I'll get in for accepting said kickback. But yes, I've compromised my integrity. *sits on floor in the shower with my knees up listening to Ashlee Simpson, whilst contemplating cutting myself with my pink bic w/ daisies on it*

Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977 (15 U.S.C. §§ 78dd-1, et seq.) applies to any gift to any level of bureaucrat, politico, potenial politico, agency person, etc or any one in the same sort of situation. us citizens cannot give anything of value to those officials.

dont ask how, but it is an area of the law that is watched very closely and the Asst USAtty will put a freakin secretary in jail for stupis shit--trust me, i know.
 
I work in the oil and gas industry and that stuff used to be pretty common. It has cleaned up a lot in the last 15 years.

Anyway, my advice is not to play the game. At the end of the day, the ones who play it straight and provide the service required are the ones everyone ends up using.

Guys in the kick-back game are doing it because they know they provide an inferior product - IMHO

My own experience over the last 16 years has been if you provide superior product, service and price you will lose out to the guy with the gift cards.
 
problem with kickbacks is not the govt, it's your employer:

if ur boss finds out u've been receiving perks for handing out benefits to clients - you've improvised their system on getting the best vendor for them. You've made it what's best for you.

They could even sue them and you in court if it made them lose money/business.

As for the kickback issue, if it's not illegal, and it's going to help your bottom line in the end...I say go for it. Nothing wrong with 'greasing' your best customers to build some loyalty.

i guess that is funny--well, except that Canada has their own version---The Corruption of Foreign Public Officials Act (CFPOA) --which is virtually identical--as is the EU's, OAS's etc.

Here's the example:
Lets say I own a landscape company and a property manager gives me bunch of work for cutting grass at 10 commercial buildings....every so often I shoot him a gas card worth $100.00

we both get caught! you say I'm going to fucking jail for that?

no, it's cross boarder. i had a client (us citizen)that has a small factory in china...(everyone pays in china), but in this case, one guy along the chain got greedy, kept the cash (<$500 us), and the next guy in line lodged a complaint when client would not pay again. long story short, he was charged in both countries. fined about 65,000 us for china; in the us, they charged him and in a plea, paid $25k while his company (1 owner-him) paid $250k. oh, and they conficated his business in china--everything.

yep, piss off big brother and they piss back--for $50 buck he could have had the guy whacked and dumped in a swamp and my guess is no one who have batted an eyelash
