Yo Computer peeps (Jnuts or others)...??

sometimes ad-aware deletes a file that Windows Xp needs to use DHCP, which if you have dsl/cable will totally screw your internet connection, It happened to 3 puters at my job and my sisters...the only way to fix it is to use a static IP (usually not an option) or reinstall XP..sucks.

you should switch over to mozilla firefox, i have had no problems since i did, ie really is trouble

I wonder if that will fix the current problem though......

So strange....I ran AdAware.....and spybot.....it found all sorts of shit...and I can now go to Google, and Yahoo.......but for whatever reason E-Bay still brings up the crappy Search Assistant....??????????????????????

I HATE COMPUTERS :chomp:

Look in control panel/ add/remove programs. There is an outside shot you'll see something that can be uninstalled. Search Buddy, IE Assistant, etc....internet sounding names like that.

What D_T said. Also, if you can find the name of that search box, you can type it into google.com with the words HOW TO UNINSTALL and maybe someone else has had the problem and documented the solution.

WTF - I think that happened to me a couple months ago. How did you find out about it?

BTW, dump IE and use Firefox...this kinda shit will happen a lot less.

(...and run XP with non-admin permissions.... that will help even more)
