yesterday...

How long did it take you to recover? I bulged a l5/s1 disk 3 weeks ago.
I hit the "safety pins" in the rack whilst atf squatting lost balance and got thrown forward screwing my back up. I heard and felt a little pop but was able to still bend over and get around OK with a bit of pain.
I have stopped lifting all together.
I have been seeing a chiro who helping with my rehab with a method called Distraction Manipulation or cox technic. I am also doing excercises with a gym ball to help the rehab.
Have you heard of this?
Is your back up to full strength again?

that is the same place as my injury. All I can tell you is that you have a long road ahead of you. I was out of the gym for about 5 months. I was in some serious pain. I had a "very large protrusion" on the disk, as it says in my MRI review. I also pulled muscles in my lower back at the same time, so I was all kinds of screwed up. First I was on muscle relaxers and pain killers. I started electrical stimulation therapy for the muscle pulls. Then I was on traction, 5 days a week 20 minutes a day (same with the electrical stimulation.) As much as I wanted to, and believe me I tried, I couldn't do anything physically. It was so bad that I couldn't even put 225lbs on my back.
I was told that I have an 80% chance of full recovery. I would like to say that I am at 100%, but I still get pain in the region from time to time.

did you get an MRI done? this is the only way to know for sure if you have a slipped disk

I have not had an MRI. The doctor reckons I should be OK in 6 weeks.
I initially didnt have as much pain as you it sounds like ie: the next day I could bend over and do my shoe laces and got around OK etc.... have also shown no clinical signs of a herniated disc with all the tests I have been put through by the chiro.
Hopefully it is only a little buldge as he says and I will be back soon.
DId you use reverse hypers in your rehab?
If so when did you start them?
I mentioned it to the choro and he is against it.
Did you try using an inversion table?
I am thinking of hiring one.

I'm not a doctor, but I would be willing to bet that you dont' have a slipped disk. Especially if they told you that youwill be better in 6 weeks. I would almost bet that you pulled a muscle, and the inflamation of the muscle is pushing on a nerve and this is what is causing you the pain.

No, i didn't do anything physically for my disk problems. Shit, I couldn't even put my shoes on for about 2 weeks; I had to wear sandals everywhere. Even then, it would take me about 5 minutes per shoe, cause I would take a deep breath, bend over, and get the shoe on my foot. sit back up,wait for the pain to go away, take another deep breath, and then make every attempt to tie my shoe as fast as possible. all the while in excruciating pain.
