As for SATs, the average at Harvard is 1320, so the person that said that they were in the 40th percentile at 1230 is either at MENSA high school or is mistaken.
you got 1090 on your sats and you are 29th in your class? where do you live? harlem?
I got a 1230 on the SAT and am ranked in the 40th percentile.

i am taking AP chemistry, Honors Precal, Honors Physics, AP Biology, and Molecular biology this year as my "hard" classes. i love my school.
we also have to be in acivities to get in national honors society, but also must have 3 letters of recomendation and all the teachers you have had vote on wether you should be accepted or not.

I almost beat that with my math score!
Don't you get like 400 just for filling out your name correctly?
2Thick: yes 1320 might be the average, but the average CEO/children there is .78
There are schools with much higher averages. My high school's average was over 1270.

1. I did get an 800 on my math, and although it ain't 1090, I'm thinking that's pretty close. (720 english)flickenu said:...and there's no way that you almost beat that with your math score. at best you can get an 800 on math.

2. I attended one of the top 3 private schools in the US from 7-12th grade; roughly 50% of graduating seniors from my class went to Ivy league or equivalent (Stanford, MIT, etc..), I might be wrong on the 70 part, (it was like 15 years ago), but of the 1200+ I am certain, that was for my class (145 graduating seniors).
By the way, I am not saying that the SAT isn't a totally biased test because it certainly is, and yes, we were heavily prepared for these and all standardized tests from grade 7 on. You don't even want to know some of the stories, they would just piss you off, but one of my buddies who went to law school took the MCAT's (AFTER law school) without studying (he was trying to prove a point) and scored in the 75%ile. The tests have a great deal to do with pattern recognition.
