YAMMIT <-- good choice carb supplement?

No. It is slow releasing. PWO the thought is you want something fast to replenish the muslces. Something that repelases slowly would defeat the supposed purpose.

This is why SIMPLE sugars are the ideal choice - NOT complex carbs.

It is also up for debate on whether it is the the females best interest to have simple carbs - even PWO. Our insulin response is different than a males.

I've never found it makes a difference to MY body - in results OR recovery.

It only has 2 g of protein per serving and the 35 g of carbs are slow digesting carbs so for pwo, it is out of the question. With the low amount of protein i wouldnt eat it anyway. I think there are far better options IMO.

The purpose here is you mix it with whey protein..

Daisy Girl, I've had some good results with a post workout shake consisting: whey protein and 1 cup dry oats .. I dont understand why complex carbs post workout are not a good idea?

I have never debated the issue that complex carbs are better for pwo. It is a principle that many BB's follow that simple sugars, such as dex and maltodextrine, are better because you need fast digesting sugars to replenish muscle glycogen and to shuttle nutrients throughout your body. Now as for insulin sensitivity being different in females , thus, not requiring simple sugars, you got me on that one.

This thread:

has some info on insulin sensitivity and women.

I can't get my hands on further info right now - but will keep looking for it.

Individual response varies, but I will say again that I have never found any benefit to having PWO carbs. It makes no difference in MY body if there are carbs in my PWO shake. So I skip it - why take in excess simple carbs if I see no benefit?

Great info Daisy Girl :)
But I still believe that you need carbs immediatly post workout
