I'm on a broadband home network and i keep getting these pop up ads. Some show up in the lower right hand corner and some pop-up in the middle of the screen...

Thank you

you can email the companies with your ip address and have it removed. It's a better solution than running another piece of crap spyware program to stop them.

Go to your administrative tools - services , there you will
find Messenger (its not msn messenger) double click on it
and disable at start up.

I hope that you aren't making a directed comment on the software link I posted. If you are, do your homework before you open your mouth.

Listen to firebaal. You have spy ware on your pc. Most likely gator. Ad Aware will find it and kill it. It is quicker than uninstalling it all.

Listen to both Fireball AND Nevermind - there are a variety of ways that those pop-ups come in. Doing both will lock down the pop-up madness. (but not the IE kind......)

Ok, I've got all the adbuster stuff, but I still have pop ups. Even when IE isn't running, I have ads pop up. ITS ANNOYING AS FUCKING HELL GODDAMN IT FUCKFUCKRUCKFDSF;AKLFH;ATRH!! I can't play games anymore 'cause the pop ups keep kicking me back to the desk top.

Any help is appreciated.

do what was just posted above about the messenger service

Well you have to know that there are two types of pop ups. First you have the HTML type that opens with a web site, like the pop ups that you can see here in this forum. Those have to be blocked with some software, because they are HTML codes inserted in every web page.
Then you have those disgusting "service messenger" pop ups. Those have nothing to do with web sites. They will appear anytime and there is no software to block those ones. The trick for that is a little configuration on windows.

Go to Start, then right click over My computer. Go to "Manage". A new window will open. Inside that window go to Services & Applications (left panel). Then in the right panel double click on services. A new list will appear. Search on the list for "Messenger" and double click on it. A new window will open. In start up options, choose manual. Below, on service status, press stop. Then click on OK, and that's it. The nasty messenger pop up is gone.

Also a decent firewall will stop most annoying pop ups. Norton Personal Firewall can be found for free with Kazaa. Norton Firewall does stop pop ups. With Broad band you should definately get a firewall (if you hadn't already) and preferably one that will stop the popups.
