WTF, my computer keeps freezing up!!

This shit juts started last night. Everytime I enter a website in the address bar then click go, the damn computer freezes up. Control, Alt, delete won't get my out of the freeze, so I have to hold the button in on the tower to shut it down. Happens every damn time. Now if I use the addy's listed in my "Favorites" list, it works fine and doesn't freeze up.

I tried running a Defrag, but it freezes up everytime the Defrag starts.

System specks are P3, 600mz, 320mb Ram (for some reason it only shows that I have 255mb Ram), 20 gig.

Any ideas on what could be wrong with my computer??

take it out of the freezer, that can't be good for machinery.

I would say you have too many programs running at once.Go to the Run program on your computer and type msconfig.Once your at the system configuration utility,go to start -up and disable any unessecary programs.

Just did that, and there wasn't any unessecary programs running.

This all started I think after I downloaded a pop-up killer (Thanks GS!) from http://www.panicware.com/ . I couldn't get the damn thing to work, so I just deleted it, but know my computer keeps freezing up.

i think the best thing would probably be a windows re-install. i don't think defragmenting the HD is going to fix the problem, but if you want to try it and it keeps locking up when you try to degrag hit ctl-alt-del and make sure all programs except explore and systray are closed. One you do that you should be able to defrag without lockup.
It sounds like you may have deleted a necessary file when you deleted pop-up stopper since your problems began occurring after that.
Again, i think the best thing would be reformat the HD and do a complete fresh windows re-install. Should fix your problems. good luck.
