WTF is wrong with sport parents??

hamstershaver said:
ive never understood why they act like that ecspecially if there is no money riding on the game

Even worse is the fact that sometimes it's not even Middle or High School related. Like Intamural city rec leagues without even playoffs and such..

OMG Y_Lifter. I knew stuff like this happened, but did'nt realize it was so commonplace. My 3 yo daughter is in for it in a few years. I'm not sure how I'll react to the other parents.

Some things I can understand the parent's saying like "Run faster, beat her to it, she's just a girl." to THEIR kids, but if smeone talks to my kid in a negative way... I would'nt like it.

I'm a crazy fuck, I won't do anything illegal, but I'd stop the whole freaking game. I don't care. I'd tell the official right there, that this HAS to stop because it's wrong. I will not accept that. THEN the game can go on after that.

Trust me, I can move mountains. I get shit done if I'm pissed off enough.

its brutal,I played minor hockey from 4-13,and quit over the political bullshit involved,it totally sucked the fun out of the game for me, but its not how good you are anymore its who you know.

Well bor, if you are going to sign her up for sports your going to have to get ready for somethings that will piss you off. She will get fouled, pushed, hair pulled and so on. And some jackass on the other sideline will piss you off. Be a role model, show your kid how to behave.

Then kick the guys ass after your kid gets in the car with her mom.

GL, I won't say stuff as bad as I posted happens EVERY Game, but
little things like parents bitching about ref calls when they don't have a clue about
the rules of the game happens all the time..
Usually I just LOL at them as long as it doesn't get personal against my kid or a kid on our team. They can bitch at the ref all they want..

You hear a lot of parents rooting for thier kids-Team(good) and sometimes nagging or yelling at their kid (no so good if it gets crazy), but I usually draw the line on a parent saying ANYTHING negative about MY child ..

We actually pulled her off of a team she was just on because the Coach thought he
was Jon Gruden or Mike Ditka, screaming and bitching at them for the smallest infractions.
Pulling some kids off the field when they made a small mistake and not explaining why, and yet leaving his superstars out there when they totally F'ed up causing scores..

I don't expect a coach to be soft or coddle the kids, bit again, she's only 12-13 and she'll get enough of this negative BS in High School from the coaches..

What sports/activites is she doing? What are her goals and your goals for her?

This year mine(10) did soccer volleyball and basketball right now. I'm getting her extra practices at a local b-ball academy, because I know soon it will get very competitive. She has said at various times she wants to be pro in b-ball or soccer, I would just be happy for her to be on the HS team up until she's a senior.

Starting off.. Any parent wanting their child to grow in any sport should not
only get them on a local non competetive team, but more importantly, enroll them in a small sports day camp.. They will get the attention and detailed lessons they need to grow in the sport. Mine attends a soccer camp every year and you can see the skill level grow each time.. As early as you can introduce them to sports.

My Daugher has in the past done Tae Kwon Do from 5yr old -10 years old
and got to a near 2nd degree Black belt. The time needed to go further
in that sport was more than any of us could handle and it was her choice to stop.

She also has played Soccer mostly left or right defender from about 9 to present at 13.
She has played in city leagues and private school and down here you can play pretty much all year in 2 seasons from March - October..
She just started public school and is playing on the Middle School team.

Hers and our goals are for her have fun, remain physically active and trim for health reasons, learn competition and teamwork and if lucky enough, make a college soccer team for a partial scholarship.

She is petite for her age, so BasketBall and VBall are pretty much out in her mind. She has considered Softball but never played. She can knock the crap out of a ball as a lefty even though she is right handed.

i got hired to do security at a roller hockey tournament once, i thought the guy was joking when he asked me. but the people in the stands, parents, mostly, and the kids and adults playing were worse than most bar crowds.

I agree with this. I'm no maniac, but there's a line you cross that's unacceptable when someone else yells at your kid and says negative stuff to them. Someone did that to my wife ONCE. He alsmost ran HIS wife over with his car trying to get away from me. lol He apologized to my wife later.

Jaded..."Be a role model, show your kid how to behave." Yes, I'll teach her that she can stand up to everyone, even if it's a whole sporting event going on and if she's right, then she can do it. It does'nt have to be done with fists, just gotta have a sharp mind and THINK.

When all the sports stop being fun, we're outa there. I just want to make her enjoy herself. She's actually got an advantage. She's very tall, the doc says she'll be over 6feet tall and she's already muscular at 3. lol Very athletic. I think her age group better watch out! Even the boys... lol

True. True. I love sending my kids to sports, but (to be honest) don't really bother watching unless they are close by. When there on the other end of the field, good old Guns and Ammo comes out and EJE does some reading.
