Especially in relation to food?? Some of the cheeses on www.fitday.com only have a choice of "cubic inch" or cups when entering the tally for how much you ate......

cubic inch is a cube one inch wide, one inch deep and one inch tall

I guess I'll have to get out my ruler in order to eat cheese.....

But Bleu Cheese isn't really hard or firm like Cheddar, so it may be difficult to cut some into a 1x1x1 square.....

it is just for a rough guide

on your hand the joint on your thumb that has the fingernail on it will be roughly one inch long

I only clicked on this thread cause I thought it said "pubic itch". Can't help ya with the cubic inch thing. My bad.

It's an approximation. For softer cheeses or like crumbled blue chees use a heaping table spoon. Or if you are using a normal paring knife it'll have a blade about 3/4 of an inch wide.

Thank you Scots! So, 1 cubic inch = 1 tblsp for Blue Cheese?

Just wish the Bleu Cheese had "ounces" as an option like all the rest of the cheese does....

1 cubic inch = 16.387064 milliliters

Heaping table spoon. Squared spoon will be less. And that's only if it is crumbled. Otherwise you can break off piece about twice the siz of the last digit on your index finger and that'll work. No need to get out a ruler it's just that a cubic inch is a common size to weight relation in cooking.

I thought this was gonna be an automotive thread.

In which case, my answer would have been: "Cubic inches are what my car doesn't have."

Often times cheese is divided into cubes when you buy it. Or at least it can be bought that way. Otherwise it is a measure of volume that gives you a picture of how much cheese to use.

i dont. it's a silly thing. Volume measure is a mistake in the making.

WEIGH everything... or use your heart and hands, its the best pair of tools that exist.

I too, thought it was silly.....

But in fitday, "cubic inches" or cups are the only options when using a measure of Blue Cheese -- I prefer to weigh my foods also....
