Wrist roller

Backlash

New member
I haven't done forearms in years, but I wanted to make it part of my new workout. But, of couse, 24 hour fitness doesn't have any good forearm equipment (other than dumbbells).

So I stopped by Lowes and made this sweet wrist roller:

Total cost: $2.93 US. :D

I use the wrist roller at the gym - I attach a weight to the end and roll it up and down as many times as I can - I do 3 sets - I can't move my hands after the second set - I think its a great exercise and I only see one other person doing it -

I picked up grippers two weeks ago and after every workout I do 1 warmup set of 12 and the I do three sets to failure.

In just two weeks of doing this (4 times a week) my forearms are thicker and more vascular.

I think I will use your idea and make a roller.

I think people will be surprised how much grippers/rollers can help if you do them after every workout.

did the same thing myself. i drilled a hole in the middle of the pipe i got though and tied a tight big knot. that pipe looks a little small though. i got mine thicker just to work my grip as well.

That is actually a piece of a wooden rod that was in a closet in my house - we redid the shelves in the closet so this was just sitting around. It's about 1.5 inches in diameter, so it's not too big, but it's actually pretty comfortable to hold.

I did drill a hole through it (used a 7/16 inch spade bit) and passed the rope through the hole before I knotted it but you can't tell from the picture.

The handle looks a bit small in diameter in that pic.
Maybe its just the picture..
Try a thicker one if this one is uncomfortable.

I made one from a steel straight handle with grips off of an old multi gym I had

I agree, you will gain more benifit from a thicker handle.

you would be surprised how many places give away perfect materials. curtain shops dont have much use for 1 1/2 feet of excess curtain rod (the thick ones).

some plumbing supply, or pool shops throw away certain lengths of pipe

Cool, I'll try wrapping it with duct tape or something to make it a bit thicker. It's 1.5 inches now. What would you suggest - 2?

I just made a pinch block with some leftover 2x4 and some rope, and lots of duct tape. It works pretty well, and it was cheap. :)
