Wrapping wrists

My left wrist tends to get injured (sprained) often. I always try to lift with wrists being straight, but it still happens. Should I wrap them?

I've noticed it gets sprained when using a nice amount of weight on decline or dumbell curls. I recently purchased those Harbinger gloves with wrist wraps, although I don't know the true purpose of those.

you defiately should not be spraining your wrists on bicep movements, or really on any movement

strengthen your forearms.
id try high rep movements at first 20 + reps

My forearms are pretty big :D If I don't lift heavy, then it doesn't sprain. Maybe by lifting that heavy, you lose form? but in that case, i've been stuck at the same weight for my sets, for a long time!

whenever i bench or squat i wear wrist wraps. or an any heavy bench assistance moves.

when you wrap your wrist make sure you get the wrap a little higher on your hand then normal, this will help keep it straighter, and if done right its like wearing a cast on your wrist.

My wrists tend to hurt like that when lifting heavy, too.

I wrap them like Liftbig said, and I have also found it helps a lot to grip the bar VERY tight during the lift.

Wrap them on heavy exercises. . . I once took an old pair of knee wraps and cut them in half to make wrist wraps. . it worked well.

Good luck on recovery. . sprains take time.

thats the way to do it....just get some velcro and sew it on yourself, and you good to go. for the same price as a pair of wrist wraps(generally) a pair of knee wraps can make 2 pairs of wrist wraps.

I have been using athletic tape for a few weeks...love it. I get loads from the Athletic Dept though...for free.

The only thing is, these wrist wraps (harbinger gloves incorporated with velcro wrist wraps) still allow my wrists to move, why?

honestly, becuase they suck. the wrap is too low on the wrist to be effective. get a pair wrist wraps and ditch the glove/wrap combo.
