you've used that twice in the past week. cocknose.

I did? Probably because I saw Dumb and Dumber like three times this weekend. BTW, I hat you lardass. I hat the ravioli you walk on. What's up with the fat off? Your back better yet? What did Jeter do anyway? I was busy being happy that Lofton did something good for my Phillies.

The Yanks were shuttin down the sox for 7 innings. 3-1. then they got one run. then Varitek hit a fucking homer off Mo in the 9th to tie it up. Mo shut em down, Jeter comes up - walkoff homerun.

What is the difference between a walk off home run and a home run?

Walk off is a game ending homer that the hitter doesn't need to tag home plate for, Nancy.

uhm no, walkoff is when the other team doesnt get a chance to bat...im pretty sure they need to touch the base still.

Yankees Suck. THEEEEEEEEE YANKEES SUCK!!!

Worst collapse/choke job in the history of baseball. Ouch.

if we are going to talk about the past, why not bring up 26 championships? dipshit.

because 26 world championships will never erase the sting of that collapse. but you can keep mentioning them if you want.

the simple truth is that the collapse was really bad. losing to the Red Sox and watching them win the WS in a cake walk was really bad. the combination of the two will haunt true Yankees fans forever. they'll be telling their family/grandkids about how horrible it was in 30+ years.

not that i'm a Red Sox fan by any means. and if any Yankee was going to hit that dinger; i'm glad it was Jeter - he is a class act.

oh i got it now, the team didnt need that batter who hit the homer to score to win, they already got the runs from whoever was on base, thats why he didnt need to touch home/score.

It just means that the ball went out of the park and other players on base scored the winning run making it unnecesary for the one that hit the run to tag the plate.

no shit it was bad, althought the DBacks loss was tougher for me to handle. but my point is that it was in the past. so were the 26 world championships. if you want to talk about past things that have happened in baseball and their stings, I think the Sox may lead that category. So, your jab was relatively pointless and empty. If you want to discuss the past, you gotta do it for everyone.

wrong. it was a walk off homerun, but there was nobody else on base. he still had to touch home base (haven't you ever seen a walkoff homer when the entire bench meets tha player at home???).

now, a walkoff double is another story. the hitter does not have to touch home cause there was obviously another guy that scored.

so if he doesn't tag the plate does he credit for a run scored in his stats? or does the cocky feeling of simply walking off the field outweigh the value of another stupid run on your books

Then by definition it wasn't a walk off home run. It was a clutch hit, but not a walk off homer.

walk off homer means you can walk off the field cause the fucking game is over. it's that simple.

Exactly. He doesn't need to touch the plate. Now who's on first?

A walkoff homer is NOT a homer where the batter has to touch home plate.. that is NOT a walkoff....

We just ran in circles on this whole thing.

seriously. I believe he still has to touch the plate, though. but the reason it is called walk off is cause they can walk off the field (not fucking immediately, ass head!), meaning there are no more at-bats, no more pitches, no more fucking baseball cause the goddamnfuckingshit game is over!

No.. if they have to touch the plate its a game winning home run, but not a walk off.

Yup. If he has to touch home plate it's not a walk off. A walk off is if he drives the winning run in and doesn't need to touch home plate. :argue:

A technicality of the walk-off home run is that the game is not officially over until the winning run crosses home plate (in the case of a solo walk-off home run, the batter must round all the bases). This fact almost caused a serious problem in the 1976 American League Championship when jubilant fans running onto the field at Yankee Stadium nearly prevented Chris Chambliss from rounding the bases (the Yankees had not won the pennant in 12 years). Chambliss had to negotiate a sea of fans in order to place his foot on home plate.

fucking idiots.

No man.

Say you are the home team

The game is tied. It is the bottom of the 9th or any extra inning.

There is one man on base, no outs.

The next batter hits a home run.

The guy from first rounds the bases and touches the home plate.. you, the batter, you only make it to 1st.. then you WALK OFF the field...

your run doesn't count, but the dude ahead of you does..

you win the game by 1

We need Jersey to get in here to take some of the self pwnage pressure off of Killa's shoulders.

you are so fucking wrong it is insane. a walkoff homerun ends the game PERIOD. doesn't matter who the fuck scores. it is a homerun. and for any fucking run to count in MLB, a foot has to touch the plate. both teams still "walk off" the field if a solo game-winning HR is hit.
