wow i found this informative

Nice, general overview. About the only issue I had was with the following paragraph:

One set of 4-6RM performed 3 days a week is a typical strength training program. The optimal number of sets of an exercise to develop muscle strength remains controversial. In a number of studies comparing multiple set programs to produce greater strength gains than a single set, the majority of studies indicate that there is not a significant difference.

It is my understanding, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, that almost all of these studies used beginner lifters for their studies. I believe other studies have been done that show multiple sets are required for advanced lifters.

that website has okay info, but a lot of it is very oversimplified. i'd use that as a first reference but not a last one

i thought it seemed like it would be good inspirational material for begginers
they simplify it alot but seems like alot of it is still sound advice although everyone is different

LoL You haven't read the "ACSM gets spanked" thread have you? LoL The paper linked in my first post deals w/ all these debates, including the multi vs. single set debates/science.
