Would you marry a vegetarian?

Do you think you could? While some would reason that perhaps she could still cook you meals with meat, she would probably detest it deep down (or wouldnt do it at all if she was a stand-offish bitch).

If she did make your meals with meat and ate her salad or whatever, it'd be fine temporarily, but what about when she wants to raise the children as vegetarians...

You serious?

Hell yeah I'd marry a vegetarian.

As long as she doesn't interfere with my daily cow intake, I'm fine with her being whatever she wants to be; but there is no way my kids are gonne be veggies.

I use to be a vegan vegeterian.
I didn't mind cooking and/or preparing meat and animal derived products for others especially my then boyfriend.

When we talked about getting married one day I even agreed to allow our child to consume meat and animal derived products.

As long as I didn't eat it, I didn't care who did!

See, thats one of the cool vegetarians (or ex-veg.) right there. But no way in hell would my kids be vegetarians because their mother didnt believe in it for some weird purpose.

Thanks!

Unlike other vegan vegeterians I was not an animal rights activist. I simply found meat disgusting. I was a vegan for over ten years and just a few months ago I became a meat eater again. I still don't eat other animal derived products such as milk, ice cream, butter, etc. I do eat meat now, though. I even have days when I crave a HUGE steak.

Probably not. Unless she was something very special in all other ways.

Actually its not the best thing when the person you are married to has different taste in food than you.

I'm all for trying new resturants and food and stuff and Mrs Y is pretty stuck in a rut eating the same ol stuff pretty much.

I still order new stuff when we go out, and go to weird resturants when I'm out on business but it would be better if we could share this at home or together.. right?

When she looks at me with the old "WTF did you just order" look, I ignore it or tell her to shut up or I'll jam the food down your throat when it arrives.. j/k

I would and will.

I respect her wishes, and she respects mine.

I told her (did not ask her- TOLD her) that the kids will decide whatever they want on their own, and I also TOLD her she will eat meat/animal products while she's pregnant with them, as she may have her beliefs, but they can never justify harming the children.

She agreed.

Part of being in a relationship is learning and experiencing new things together. To me that's half the fun of being in a relationship. Often times I'd try something I never thought I'd like. Often times I was surprised to find out that I actually liked it, whether it was food or not.

i don't know why everyone thinks that vegetarians are selfish and pushy about their chosen lifestyle.

all the vegetarians i know are like nvrbuffenuff_girl - they have made their choice about their diet, but they don't try to force it down other people.

I know vegeterians that aren't like I was. If you ever ate at their houses YOU HAD no choice but to eat like they did. If you went out to eat with them they would preach about the non-veg. meal you were eating and how it was so harmful for your body and their veg. meal was the best. They tried to turn everyone in vegeterians. People likes those vegeterians I know are the reason why some people have negative views about vegeterians.

Depends on what kind of vegatarian and for what reasons she is one. If she can only eat fish for medical reasons, then fine. If she's a vegan because it's mean to kill animals than I wouldn't even date her. I deal with enough stupid people at work, I don't need an extra one at home.

Many vegetarians and vegans have convinced themselves it is the most healthy way to eat (false).

On top of this, some are pushy, and this is a reaction to hearing so many omnivores bother them for their personal eating habits.

If they don't bother me or preach half-truths, I leave them be.

She don't eat the meat, but she sure like the bone. (Primus)

That line is also from this 90s song called New Age Girl by Deadeye Dick (Dumb & Dumber soundtrack). Funny song, if I recall.

Well I'm a vegetarian and I would never try and force my vegetarian lifestyle on anyone else. It's all about respect, and I respect omnivore's decision to consume meat and I just expect the same in return :)

Some of you have met pushy vegetarians and thats unfortunate. Not all of us are like that though, just a few bad apples in the bunch. I don't go around telling people that they are wrong for eating animals and murderers etc etc.. Thats not the kind of person I am.

If I had kids I would probably raise them as vegetarians as well since that is my chosen lifestyle. When they get to be of an age where they can make a choise for themselves though, its up to them whether or not they would want to remain vegetarians :) I don't see a problem with it as long as they eat a balanced diet and are getting all of the nutrition they need.

Would I marry an omnivore? Sure why not!

:)

You should go date Vinylgroover. He's from Australia, too, and that's reason enough for me.

He is lean, Greek, and likes to dance. That should be reason enough for you.
