He probably doesn't even remember getting hit since his lights were turned out. When I've boxed and kickboxed, the face and headshots I've taken are traumatic and shocking, but not what I would call painful. The type of KO that would make someone have nightmares about fighting is a liver punch. It's pure agony and you are completely conscious, but your body refuses to move and sometimes you can't even breathe properly for a while.
DING!!! We have a winner. Thats why body punches are my favorite punch to throw in boxing. 12 straight years of boxing and I've have never been Ko'd. Rocked yes.
You could always be like Ali and ignore doctor's orders of a future permanent disease and keep boxing like the arrogant man you are until your body completely falls apart - and then become a vegetable rest of your life.
It is pretty sad. I think the thrill of fighting, the never quit mentality, and the shady managers/promoters that rob their fighters keep guys fighting in the ring far too long. I also think that top level boxing often requires dedication that from early teens onward rivals a full time job. Often these guys have no other skills to offer the job market aside from boxing.
I recently saw pictures of John Mugabi living in a trailer. Joe Louis' destitution was an outrage. Many don't leave the sport rich and with their full faculties like Rocky Marciano and Lennox Lewis despite many multi-million dollar fights.

That sort of true. For some it's a way of life. You'll find that a lot of times in 3rd world countries. They are raised to be boxer. Everyday they live, breath, and eat boxing. If you wanna get out of proverty you'll give you'll all. It's sad. Many don't know how to walk away...it's all they know. They fight until there is nothing left. Warriors forever. I know its hard to walk away from something you've done forever. It becomes part of you. It's not about the money at the end. Win or lose you just want to be in a war. It's what they do. They knew the risk they are taking on. I know for one, I use to think somewhat the same. If I'm gonna go out it will be on my face. Not until I had my kid did I want to live for something else. I walked away from boxing after having tough breaks and wanting to be there for my kid. Deep down it's calling me. I know I have what it takes to reach the top. There are a lot of guys I know I can beat and chances I've could have taken that would have many knowning my name right now. Kid or boxing? Choice my kid. Realized when it was all said and done when I wasn't no longer good they would throw me out in the streets in a heartbeat. It's all about money. That is how it works. Everyone loves you when you are on top and when your not people forget about you.
I still have a heavy bag and speed bag hanging. I do 3 5 minute rounds on the heavy and some speed work a few times a week as part of cardio. I still do my jumprope work too.
It's good to talk to people like you. Fitness is more than just moving iron though I like doing that.
Likewise. I've never considered myself a BB. I'm more about sports performace. I like looking ripped though but it's not really about that. Glad I can maintain my look and my performance as well. For me it's speed, power, and mental toughness. Will have to talk more about training techs and prep training bro.
