I would rather buy 99 double cheese burgers from mc Donalds or 99 small frostys from wendys.

Honestly......I just had the "royale" burger for 59 bucs and it was well worth it.

The "DB Burger" is served in two fragile halves with a silver cup of pommes soufflés by its side. The meat is ground prime rib, leavened with braised short ribs, truffles, foie gras, and a hint of vegetable root. The bun is freshly baked and flecked with bits of Parmesan. Instead of ketchup, there's tomato compote on top, along with frisée and a smear of fresh mayonnaise. Take a bite, and these elements dissolve together in rich, almost confectionary layers; the taste is like no hamburger you've ever had.

They aren't charging $99 for the burger, they are charging that much for the truffles. Truffles are very expensive and run about $400/lb. The burger is $29.

I had the 59 dollar one and my friend has the 29 dollar one..... truffles give it a superior taste and make the burger what it is

Do you not eat chain store pizza? Dominos, papa johns, pizza hut, etc? Do mom & pop places really have better pizza? Where i live i usually eat Dominos or Mad Mushroom. Mad Mushroom is a mom & pop place, and they have really good pizza but its not really much different than dominos. I can't stand pizza hut pizza though unless its chicago or NY style pizza hut pizza.

Do you know how they get truffles? They send trained pigs to walk around the woods sniffing for them. Thats why they are expensive, you can't grow them artifically like all other agriculture products.

Didja see any pig snot on your burger?

Nord,

About the burger - It was just so different tasting was so good I had to bring it up. I found it strange that they would charge so much for a burger (even $29 is expensive)....but now that I know its the Truffles that jack up the price I have a better understanding

About the Pizza - you haven't had real pizza until you have had pizza from one of those places I listed. It can't even be compared to a chain.

I seen a cartoon about this.

i think it was Talespin or something like that

even $29 for a burger....FUCK THAT!

occasionally a Pizza Hut pizza is ok. no Papa Johns around here that i know of...their pizza is pretty damn good. but the mom and pop places are always great. we've got a bunch of "italian" places around here that make shitty spaghetti sauces, and their pizzas are ok.

i need to get down near philly and get a good cheese steak soon.

i also need to get a good stromboli soon. cheese steak stromboli with pepperoni, onions, bacon, and broccoli....... :p

i've never had a truffle so i can't say how good they are.

I would assume NY pizza is better than pizza in a medium size (70k) midwest town where i live. the real estate cost and having 500+ competitors within 5 miles must make food service a cutthroat industry. You'd probably have to have great pizza just to survive in that kind of market.

DB Burger

Wow, a burger named after me! I am so unbelievably flattered!

Furthermore, there's been a real shortage of Umbrian black truffles the past few years, and the prices are just going up in response. Too many people harvesting them out of season, and people just don't know shit about why and how they grow.

But holy shit they are awesome. I easily ate over a hundred dollars worth of truffles recently when I was in Italy. It pays to know truffle farmers :Pidge:

i wouldn't pay $99 for a hamburger if it had truffles or jessica simpson's vaginal lips on it.... that's ludicrous.

Heaven sent this place =)

I would buy that $50 burger at Old Homestead.. Suppose to be amazing

but 99 dollars... the only theing Id pay 99 dollars for would be some really good pussy.
