Would whey-protein powder lose strength if i cook it?

Hello all, i would like to know if i can add whey protein powder to my oatmeal, cream of wheat, and cook? Will the protein lose strength or are most protein powders to use it in cold drinks only?

Whey protein denatures at around 140 deg F. This decreases the bioavailability, solubility and digestibility of the protein. Of course denaturing the protein does not decrease the absorption to zero. It is still a good practice to add protein to oatmeal if you are looking for a good tasting way to get a bit more protein in other than shakes. This is the same principle noted in the fact that more protein is absorbed from raw eggs (undenatured) than cooked eggs, though both are good sources of protein.
