Is there a scientific (if any) explanation why mentally ill people like people with bi polar disorder are so strong when they get pissed off? I mean like freaky strong. And some of them aren't that big. I have a friend who is bi polar and he doesn't weigh over 200 lbs. at 6'1, but I've seen him pissed and it's scary. I lift hella more than him, but when he has a manic episode I gurantee you he could squash me.

I asked this question a while ago on this forum but I watched a TV show a week or two back on mentally ill convicts that got me thinking. Also, are there any web sites that goes into detail as to why and how these type of people get this strength?

My guess would be some sort of adrenaline rush.

Crank heads have alot strength too at times.

i agree with nautica to some degree. i also believe that it's also pshychological to a certain extent. i know of a little guy that will gets out of fights by just acting totaly fucking crazy. and guys twice his size back off. it's always fun to watch when they don't buy into it. . .

In people with normal mental functions the adrenals, the cortisol induction and the test boosteres are turned off after x amount of time when a potential threat is no longer percieved. In special needs individuals their off switches are either very slow in initiating or they don't exist.
